The members of the 2016 SEACSM Clinical Track Planning Committee are: Kenneth Barnes, MD, FACSM (Clinical Representative); Matthew Close, DO (Chair), Brent Messick MD (Vice Chair), Ryan Draper DO, David Liddle MD, and Amadeus Mason MD. We invite sports medicine fellowship directors, faculty members, fellows, sports medicine physicians in private practice, physical therapists and athletic trainers to join us at the 2017 SEACSM Annual Meeting's Clinical Track on February 17th and 28th at the Hyatt Regency in beautiful downtown Greenville, SC.
The theme of the 2017 SEACSM Annual Meeting's Clinical Track is "Sport Medicine Urgencies and Emergencies”? ACSM Leadership and Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Directors are scheduled to provide evidence and expertise surrounding various medical urgencies and emergencies that may arise when covering sporting events. The specific presentations and speakers will be announced in the fall.
The Course Objectives will focus on becoming more proficient in: the evaluation and treatment of environmental illnesses, the acute management of fractures and dislocations, dealing with the collapsed athlete, airway management techniques, mass event preparedness, management of maxillofacial injuries, field side evaluation and management of acute spinal cord injuries, as well as current concepts in concussion management. As always, our talks will focus on evidence-based research.
Attention current Residents and Fellows - We want your Cases!
We always devote a significant portion of the program to interesting clinical cases, and this learning opportunity plays a big part in the agenda. We ask that sports medicine fellowship directors encourage your fellows to submit a case for presentation as part of the 2017 Clinical Track. Please submit your clinical cases (Microsoft Word Document as e-mail attachment) directly to Brent Messick, MD (Clinical Track Vice Chair) at email@example.com.
Required format for case abstract submissions is as follows: Title of Case, History (to include history of present illness, past medical history, medications, allergies, etc.), Physical Examination, Differential Diagnosis List, Data (to include diagnostic tests performed and results, laboratory studies performed and results, etc.), Final Working Diagnosis, Treatment, and Outcome. Please do not exceed 500 words.
The deadline for case abstract submission is Monday December 12th, 2016. All submissions will be notified of a decision by January 4th, 2017. All presenters selected to present his/her case will have their registration fees waived. In addition, the overall winner of best case will receive a monetary award.
Lastly, we are always looking for input and participation from our clinical members and are asking if anyone has an interest in becoming involved in the leadership aspect of the SEACSM Clinical Track, please reach out to either Ken (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Matt (email@example.com). We are always seeking members to join the Program Planning Committee.
